In apparent response to the Haditha Massacre, US troops in Iraq are to be given what some in the press are calling “ethics training,” although the military calls it “core warrior values.” Gen. Peter Chiarelli: “Of the nearly 150,000 coalition forces presently in Iraq, 99.9 percent of them perform their jobs magnificently every day. ...Which is like the old one that it's just one or two lawyers in the US who are damaging the reputation of the rest.
Chiarelli said: “As military professionals, it is important that we take time to reflect on the values that separate us from our enemies.”

ReplyDeleteOh, so right! Pathetic salve this ethics training travesty is. Whom does it make feel better? The higher-ups who either tolerate or condone these U.S-perpetrated terrorist attacks (as long as the attacks aren't found out) and now just want to appear to do something--anything--to make it look like they are taking action. The Iraqi people? Or even the crazed soldiers pulling the triggers? "Oh, my ethics teacher said I should ask myself if I would want this done unto me before I shoot a three-year-old." You let 'em have it, Postman! Let's call a sham a sham.
