What you see is definitely not what you get

To anyone familiar with physics and the nature of string instruments elegaic John Williams piece (who also provided music for Obama's election night rally in Chicago 's Grant Park) which appeared to be created by Yo-Yo Ma, Itzhak Perlman and Anthony McGill, a principal clarinetist of the Metropolitan Opera, and the pianist Gabriela Montero seemed to defy reason.

It did.

The piece the listening millions heard was pre-recorded the previous Sunday at the Marine Barracks in Washington.

Resisting the idea of using their priceless string instruments ,Ma and Perlman used new instruments that looked as though they came straight out of the box at Macy's. Their earpieces were a dead giveaway as well.

Is this what O'Bomber means by the "transparency - the new touchstone" ?

Never mind the earpieces, they didn't even bother to put up any microphones. Chamber music meets stadium rock? no thanks

Earpieces are used by live musicians though, so they can hear the rest of the group.
