This man is dangerous, he spreads disinformation / misinformation and unadulerated bullshit (Newsnight Friday 22nd 10.50) e.g Of the "Bomber on the Empty Bus" CCTV pic (courtesy HMG and the Met) he points to the device in the (heavily Photoshopped) left hand as a trigger. This would be a simple device he explains to the simple minded. It would also to the simple minded have to be attached to a fucking long piece of wire to detonate the bomb as Bill the "Blackie" Bomber left the bus and it detonated 13 minutes later. To the even simpler minded it looks like a mobile phone which people may occasionally be seen clutching.
He then points to the picture taken later of the Fitness First bag on the bus and a Gold and Black Duracell battery on the seat (He doesn't mention that this photo is courtesy of a resident and keen photgrpaher (not HMG and the Met) who lived right by the bus and took the picture, and what could be Jiffy bags (and slipping into industrial chemist mode he sagely remarks) "to insulate the unstable acetone peroxide".
Does this guy do sophisticated chemical analysis by mind reading ? 2 weeks and the forensic chappies still don't or won't tell us what the 7/7 bombs were made of.
Remember the BBC is part of the State apparatus - the World Service is funded by the Foreign (and is indeed part of it) Office.
You have beem warned. ... this also applies to every ex member of the Army (especially the SAS / SBS) Diplomat, Civil Servant, Academic they have perform like poodles to promote the party line.

LOL ! - very perceptive. Lets just hope that Paxman hasnt been "assimilated".
Radio 5 is another fertile breeding ground for all up and coming "Terrorist/Intelligence/Explosives/Middle East Experts", particularly if they have a posh voice, have been to Eton/Sandhurst and have some implausible name like Tarquin !

In fairness to Urban for a moment, he does know what he's talking about much of the time - that's what makes him so dangerous. He's been a major source of much of the disinformation that's been leaked into the public domain. A little chunk of reality, a huge dollop of BS blended together in just the right quantities goes a long way.
For a few days shortly after the first bombings he was actually coming up with material that didn't quite run with the official line. He always found ways to rationalise it though. But he's been firmly on message this last week. That piece on Newsnight you're referring to left me squirming in my chair - dreadful, absolutely dreadful

Mark U was on the telly again today, not doing the Kriegspiel but interviewing the General who tells the truth. Mark also trys to tell the truth where he can. In his book "Red Armour" he gave for the time of publicationa a detailed Order Of Battle of the Soviet Army.
Unwind around 20 years ago, before the fall of the Iron Curtain. People were dying to escape. That kind of information was hard to come by. I compared his list of divisions against Vad777's (from the Lenskii book of all the USSR's formations) and he was pretty close. He was getting good info not from the public sources like David Isby, Frank Chadwick, Tom Gervasi etc.
The one area he was down on was the designation of the Artillery Divisions of the Kiev Military District, but then who didn't. You search around now and find the 26th from CAR MD. For the record I've gone for the 36th and 342nd listed in Andy Johnson's OOB, but I may be wrong.
