Larry Flynt publisher of Hustler magazine who stood against Schwarzenegger in the CA Gubernatorial race in 2003 as the “Smut-Peddler Who Cares” says Bolton’s first wife divorced him because he took her to “swingers parties” at Plato's Retreat. A popular swingers club that operated in New York City in the late 1970s and early 1980s and he encouraged her to indulge in public sex. He cannot get anyone to refute the stories he has widely published and for which he claims he has corroborated witness statements.

Flynt has a successful history of outing Republicans, famously at the time of the Clinton impeachment hearings. Henry Hyde, a Congressman who cried for Clinton's impeachment was disgraced after carrying on a five-year affair with a married mother of three. He sunk Bob Barr, a leader for the effort to impeach Clinton, who paid for his wife's abortion, left her while she struggled with cancer and married another woman (a woman with whom he had been having an affair while his wife was sick). Flynt also ended the career of Dan Burton, chairman of the House Government and Oversight Committee who called Clinton a scumbag while being himself investigated for fundraising irregularities. (It was later revealed that Burton had fathered an illegitimate child in the 80s while cheating on his wife.)

Flynt is perhaps most famous in all his court battles when he lost the case against rival Penthouse editor, Bob Guccione’s girlfriend (Keeton v Hustler , 465 US 770)which he lost. During the proceedings he shouted "Fuck this court!" and called the justices "nothing but eight assholes and a token cunt". Chief Justice Warren Burger had him arrested for contempt of court but the charge was later dismissed.

Bolton , a lawyer, like the President missed the call up for Vietnam and served in the National Guard …"I confess I had no desire to die in a Southeast Asian rice paddy. I considered the war in Vietnam already lost" he said.
