Eventually batteries run out so removeable rock was used to top up the YASU batteries. hence the massive batteries exposed in the bugs in the IRA offices gerry Adams presented to the Press last Christmas.

Main item used these days is not a pam computre but housed in a mobile. Which explains why you are relieved of yours when entering a UK building overseas or often in the UK. Using "Blue snarfing" they can retrieve your addres book contacts etc.,

If you meet anybody in an Embassy / Consulate expect them to carry a mobile they place on the table, it will be wired for sound which will be transmitted to a silent listener. The best thing is to ask for a jug of water and drop it into that.

Of course anyone using a mobile is a mug, if they want to keep secrets.
