BBC apologists for Aegis / Spicer shoot 'em up thugs
The BBC which is effectively the Foreign Office apology machine reports that the US military launched an " inquiry" after a video showing an Aegis Defence Services contractor firing at civilian cars in Iraq was shown on the internet.
Aegis helpfully handed the results of it's own "investigation" to the US Army's Criminal Investigation Division, who have decided that the incident (s) shown on the film was within the rules on the use of force by civilian personnel.
Aegis, which is effectively the mercenary arm of the Ministry of Defence says rules of engagement "allow for a structured escalation of force to include opening fire on civilian vehicles under certain circumstances".
Nobody denies that the footage seen and posted on a website set up by Aegis contractors in November 2005 was of Aegis contractors. The BBC report and Aegis spokesman "There was no evidence of any civilian casualties as a result of the incidents and the images published were all taken out of context." So that's all right then.... images taken out of context.
The US military investigation concluded that no-one should be charged with any criminal offence.
Hail the liberation !!! Lord Patel wrote earlier ...
