IDF defends against beach picknickers - The Age of Unreason again
'When I use a word,' Humpty Dumpty said, in a rather scornful tone,' it means just what I choose it to mean, neither more nor less.'
'The question is,' said Alice, 'whether you can make words mean so many different things.'
7 dead women and children on a beach in Gaza , smashed by an explosion. The IDF have been blasting the area with shells from the air, sea and land ... but Defense Minister Amir Peretz said Saturday night that it was possible the blast was an "internal Palestinian incident."
"There is information indicating that it was an internal Palestinian incident," Peretz told reporters ... but in case this confused anybody , well they wouldn't release the information that suggested such an event.
At the same time a man described as Chief of General Staff Lt.-Gen Dan Halutz spoke to the press and expressed regret for what he called an "unfortunate incident." But, Halutz said, his regret did not mean that he was taking responsibility for the incident.... oh no.
OC Gaza Brig.-Gen. Aviv Kochavi said that around the time of the incident five shells were fired from a distance of 200-250 meters from the scene of the explosion but were not capable of causing such a disaster.
