10 totally fucked and useless highly radioactive UK nuclear power stations for sale - great development potential
The British Nuclear Group's ageing fleet of Magnox rectors has been reduced by closure of 2 sites which take effect from 31st December 2006.
Sizewell A, nuclear power station , the largest of the Magnox fleet with twin reactors generated 440 MW of electricity. Construction began in 1961 and it became fully operational in 1966 and since then has produced over 100 million MWh of electricity to the grid.
Dungeness A (pic BBC)was a similiar unit whose construction was started a year earlier and began electicity generation in 1965.
This removes approximately 2% of UK electricity generation.
There are now two left operating - Oldbury (Bristol) is scheduled to cease generation in 2008; Wylfa (Anglesey) in 2010.
BNFL announced on December 21st that they have instructed NM Rothschild & Sons Limited to sell off a new wholly-owned business called Reactor Sites Management Company Ltd.,, which is responsible for the management of the Magnox reactor sites in the UK.
Magnox Electric Limited, which is the holder of a nuclear site licence for each of the NDA's Magnox reactor sites, will be a wholly-owned subsidiary of Reactor Sites Management Company and therefore will be included in the sale.
Interested parties, who can purchase the whole of the share issue should contact Richard Guest at reactorsites@rothschild.co.uk. this includes sites @ Dungeness A, Sizewell A, Bradwell, Berkeley, Hinkley Point A, Oldbury, Trawsfynydd, Wylfa, Chapelcross,Hunterston A.
