Boeing Dreamliner starts to build
The first specially modified transport, a Boeing 747-400 named the Dreamlifter, delivered it's very first load to Everett on Tuesday with the delivery of the horizontal stabilizer made by Alenia Aeronautica ( a subsidiary of Finnmeccanica) at its facility in Foggia, Italy.
Scott Strode the 787 VP said on a bad phone line that "In the coming weeks we will receive other major assemblies for the first Dreamliner. he sent us this quick snap as it was unloaded.
Boeing claim the twin engined , two aisle 787 Dreamliner is the fastest-selling airplane in aviation history, with firm orders for 544 airplanes from 44 airlines. Air Canada (have added 23 to their original order) and Virgin have just signed up.
Boeing earned US$877 million, or US$1.13 per share, in Q1 '07 ended March 31, compared with US$692 million, or 88 cents per share, a year earlier.
Revenue climbed 8 percent to US$15.4 billion, Q1 '06 = US$14.3 billion.
The company said its order backlogincreased 23% to a new record — $262 billion
Meanwhile the delayed Airbust 380 is completing flying trials worldwide.
