Staff Sgt. Michael Mortimer of Keokuk, Iowa, a platoon sergeant with A Co, 407th Brigade Support Battalion, 2nd BCT, 82nd Airborne Division, provides security while huge cranes lift concrete barriers into place to create the perimeter of a new "gated community" in Adhmaiyah, Baghdad April 10.
According to sergeant Mike Pryor work began on April 10 and continues every evening. The wall, which will be (at least) five kilometers long , is 3,5 meters high. Cost ?
Airpower Summary for April 19
In total, coalition aircraft flew 49 close air support missions for Operation Iraqi Freedom. These missions supported coalition ground forces, protected key infrastructure, provided overwatch of reconstruction activities and helped to deter and disrupt terrorist activities.
In total, 32 close air support missions were flown in support of the International Security Assistance Force and Afghan security forces, reconstruction activities and route patrols.
