Billions in Oil Missing in Iraq, U.S. Study Says
By JAMES GLANZ NYT May 12, 2007
100,000 to 300,000 barrels a day of Iraq’s declared oil production over the past 4 years can't be accounted for ... it could have been siphoned off through corruption or smuggling, according to a draft US government report.
At an average of US$50 a barrel, the report values the theft apparent discrepancy @ US $5 - 15 Mn. every day.
