20 or so years ago, I visited a small Greek island on a day out boat trip (from Paros, I think). A sign there read "Keep the Beach Clean - It Is Civilisation" , which again, similarly summed things up.

It is a pity about that cradle of Civilisation that is now (I imagine) destroyed - Mesopotania & the land of the 3 rivers.

Babylon Indeed.

I wonder what/when independent journalists/historians will say in the future with regard to the destruction that has occurred there (particularly since March 2003).

Oh & ancient Persia seems likely to befall the same fate.
