Michael Todd had been leading a probe into claims that CIA 'extraordinary rendition' flights had been landing in the UK, on behalf of the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO).
"On 19 December Liberty held a meeting with Greater Manchester Police Chief Constable Michael Todd. Chief Constable Todd has confirmed that he will look into “extraordinary rendition” flights on behalf of the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO). UPDATE Wednesday 12th March 8.00 am GMTBBC4 Radio "Today" program report rumours that a "Sunday newspaper" was preparing a story about him. Stories curculate of family problems and much mention of written notes / letters to family members where he was found dead.

The Telegraph reported yesterday that Todd "spoke to a number of people yesterday about his state of mind. They became worried. The tone of the conversation prompted officers to scramble rescue helicopters within hours in a bid to find Mr Todd, who was walking in north Wales".
Now watch this Sky News report & learn that it was the Sky News Anchor who told a colleague of Todd when he emerged from a Home Office meeting (on Tuesday 11/3/08) at which Todd should have been present. The colleague was "absolutely dumbstuck to be told that Mike Todd had been found dead".
Don't these colleagues/officers talk to each other about such an unprecedented event?
