Madoff swindle - evidently a family business

Investigators from the SEC rushing (?) to uncover / conceal Bernard Madoff's alleged frauds last week , found records from what appear to be thousands of clients but ran into trouble with a key Madoff lieutenant who was evasive...

The SEC and other investigators are also examining the activities of Mr. Madoff's wife, Ruth, once worked at her husband's firm ... and what role she may have played in the alleged $50 billion Ponzi scheme.

ABC News reports that a high-level SEC compliance official who worked for the agency when it found no problems at the firm in 2005, later married Madoff's neice Shana Madoff (Balenciaga label whore) , Bernard Madoff Investment Securities' compliance counsel.

Eric Swanson, the SEC compliance official, was involved in compliance exams at the broker dealer in 1999 and 2004, not in the 2005 audit, and he left the SEC on 2006.

Swanson began seeing Shana Madoff in spring 2006 and left the SEC in August that year. Swanson and Madoff married in 2007... Swanson, is now general counsel at BATS Exchange
