Gerry Adams discovers the real world has bad men in it ..round up a posse lads

There is something deliciously ironic that Sinn Féin president Gerry Adams, at his party's Ard Fheis said "all categories of gangsters or banksters must face the full rigours of the law". As an afterthought he has asked for Irish Finance Minister Brian Lenihan to resign after it has been discovered the now nationalised Anglo-Irish Bank found 15 customers owe the bank more than 500m euro each. The AIB was raided by Irish fraud police today a Police spokesman wouldn't say what materials the officers removed (beleived to be computers) nor precisely what they were looking for.

Gerry is horrified to discover the Minister for Finance he wants sacking never bothered to read the relevant documents before sinking tax-payers money into a financial cesspit... worse than gun running ?

"Gun crime, drug crime, blue-collar crime, and white-collar crime must be confronted," said Mr Adams.

But the AIB robbers were a lot more successul than Gerry's mates who robbed The Northern Bank. £26.5m stolen by the gangsters of the Provisional IRA.... doesn't look as though they needed, guns, masks or to kidnap anybody either.

Full text of Gerry's speech here at the Irish Times.

"Huge pension for former RBS boss"

"Sir Fred Goodwin, the former chief executive of Royal Bank of Scotland, is already drawing a pension of £650,000 a year, despite only being 50"...

Did someone mention a robbery.

It emerged in questioning by the Treasury Select Committee of the House of Commons on 10 February 2009, that Goodwin (degree in law at Glasgow) has no technical bank training, and has no formal banking qualifications.

FT reports tonight:
State to insure £300bn of RBS assets

By Peter Thal Larsen, George Parker and Jane Croft

Published: February 25 2009 20:57 | Last updated: February 25 2009 20:57

Royal Bank of Scotland was preparing to inject loans and other credit assets worth more than £300bn into a government-backed insurance scheme on Wednesday night in an effort to stabilise the state-controlled bank while saving it from full nationalisation.

Ministers and RBS executives were hammering out details of the plan, which will be formally announced on Thursday. Lloyds Banking Group, which is expected to insure up to £250bn worth, is expected to unveil a similar deal when it reports results on Friday.

The plan amounts to a giant state recapitalisation of two of Britain’s largest banks that attempts to ensure that they retain their stock market listings while compensating taxpayers for the enormous risks they are taking on.

The government is expected to insure RBS against the majority of future losses on a loan portfolio worth more than £300bn – more than the £250bn the bank had previously been expected to inject in the scheme. In return, RBS is expected to issue billions of pounds in equity to the government and make commitments to increase lending.

I think it is referred to in financial circles as risk management.

Maybe Gerry should send some of the lads round to "sir" Fred to offer some "protection" nudge nudge wink wink,

everyone in the UK should take out all their cash put it in the high street in a huge pile and set fire to it.There would be not much cash left circulating if everyone took part and if the made it a family fun event with bouncy castles and barbecues then there should be a national strike for two weeks then all MPs lawyers and banker and priests should be lynched(starting with "sir" fred) or beheaded in another fun packed day.Plenty of strong Whiskey and wine would be in order to fuel the rebellion.
Then we could turn a new leaf and start afresh.

.... or encouraged to go for long lonely walks inthe countryside..

On the + side for Fred he managed his own risks extraordinarily well - so he's not all bad. The Krays looked after their Mum as well

I think Sir Fredly Shredly might disagree. By my calculations, he just has to hang till the age of 89 to gross the same amount as the light fingered Irish, from his pension alone.
Not too difficult in this age of organ trafficking.

Just realised the photo of the Gneralissio of the iR should have een captioned "Mister Softee".

As for Shreddy - there is not the lsightest doubt he will hang on tohis dosh .. youcan bet hos contrcat is watertight to the depth of the Marianas Trench . Appeal to his better nature after a brief chat with Lord Rayner on Darling's says so ?

RBS / Nat West is such acan of wors it is almost impossible t imagine the loses to date
Add Lloyds / HBOS , Northern Rock and very shortly Barclays and the sumes become impossible to compute or comprehend.

"Manchester man arrested for alleged sewer-grate photography"

"Still think that if you're innocent, you have nothing to fear from surveillance and control laws? Have a look at this news-video about Stephen Clarke, a man who was accused to taking pictures of sewer-gratings in Manchester and arrested. Though the police couldn't find any photos of sewer-gratings on his phone (and even though "what a sewer grating looks like" isn't a piece of specialized terrorist intelligence), he was held on suspicion of planning an act of terror, imprisoned for two days while the police searched his home, his phone and his computer. When they couldn't find anything suspicious, they released him, but kept his DNA on file, as the biometric of someone who had been accused of plotting a terrorist act."...
