Jack Straw on the Box doesn't excite the FT

Straw finds soap box a slippery perch
By Christopher Adams : Financial Times : April 23 2005 03:00

Jack Straw is unusual among politicians for genuinely enjoying election tussles. Campaigning in Yorkshire this week, he exuded confidence too. He has made no attempt to hide his desire to stay foreign secretary - and the rapprochement between Tony Blair and Gordon Brown has made it more likely that he will remain in that post should Labour win a third term.

There are uncertainties, however, not least the need to win in his own Blackburn constituency.
