Toyota Motors outsell GM worldwide in Q1 2007
Toyota Motor have announced that they sold a whopping 9% (2.26 Mn Total) more vehicles in Q1 (Jan-March) than General Motors - the first time ever and claim World No 1 position.
Toyota's claim they overtook GM by pushing hybrid technology at a time when Detroit was stacking up inventories of trucks and sport utility vehicles. GM and Ford Motor Co. also sellihurtng nuk volumes to rental agencies, ato low (if any) margin - hitting group profitability.
In March, Toyota's U.S. sales rose 11.7% to 242,675 vehicles, while GM's sales fell to
345,418 from 359,705. Ford's U.S. sales in March dropped to 264,975 cars from 291,146.
Apparently Toyota trucks are a popular choice with the Taliban as a "technical" because they are rugged, robust and very, very reliable in harsh conditions.... that could make an interesting TV ad ? Toyota from the folks who brought you Pearl Harbour and defeat by the Taliban in Toyota technicals.
