It's payback time not only for Detroit but also Joe the Plumber
Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher, a hefty heating and plumbing contractor was videotaped by ABC News questioning Barack Obama at a campaign stop in Ohio about his small business tax policy. It was when John McCain referred constantly to him as "Joe the Plumber" that he became a national icon and byword for the striving middle classes masses , like Governor Palin he acheived fame by being interviewed by the lovely and talented Katie Couric of CBS Evening News.
Well Obama hasn't let him and his fellow plumbers down.
The New York Times reports on Obama's weekly radio address today - Obama Pledges Public Works on a Vast Scale
"Although Mr. Obama put no price tag on his plan, he said he would invest record amounts of money in the vast infrastructure program.... "
This part of what the President Elect said in his Radio address, which you can find at change.com
"Today, I am announcing a few key parts of my plan. First, we will launch a massive effort to make public buildings more energy-efficient. ....We need to upgrade our federal buildings by replacing old heating systems and installing efficient light bulbs."
Should you wish to press for your special interest group - maybe you know how to change light bulbs - you are encouraged bya page entitled Economy -- Of the People, By the People - to send your questions or ideas about how to fix the economy.
Gee ... and we thought that was the job of all those spiritual economic advisors.
