Gaza - Warsaw Redux and a good time to remind Obama of his silence on the genocide of the Palestinians

Shortly after Lord Patel was born , from April 19th to May 16th , 1943 a Nazi campaign, led by SS General Jürgen Stroop with over 2000 soldiers, mostly Waffen SS, SS Ordnungspolizei, and SS Sicherheitsdienst troops began a short brutal campaign to end the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising.

The Nazis had walled off and sealed the ghetto in November 1940 and refused to allow in enough food to support life.

The encapsulated Jews were forbidden to leave on penalty of being shot on sight - although many escaped through the sewers - a fact memorialised in a statue on the site today.

The Israeli blockade of Gaza, where 80 percent of the population lives and dies on less than US$2 per day and aid which has been subject to years of blockade, is strikingly similar. The population is devoid of water, sewage, electricity, medical supplies and services , and food.

Stroop’s SS troops attacked with tanks and other armored vehicles, artillery, and flame throwers. Some 1,200 starving Jews armed only with pistols, rifles, a few machine guns, grenades, and Molotov cocktails held out for 28 days as the SS troops systematically burned and blew up buildings and levelled the ghetto. Some 13,000 Jews were killed.

It is evidently the goal of the US supported racist genocidal Israeli government to carry out a similar extermination campaign in Gaza.

Meanwhile the world watches.

The redoubtable Cynthia McKinney reminds us of Martin Luther King's remark, " We will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends."

King was born January 15th and he is remembered by a federal holiday (signed into law by Prsident Reagan)on the third Monday of January every year - the 19th this year. The day before the silent President Barack Obama is sworn in as President on the Lincoln Bible.

It will be a good time to remind him of his mighty silence.

It's time someone organised something.

"Why It Rains: Hamas holding ?Israeli? gas reserves hostage"

"Jake Bower, The Electronic Intifada, 5 July 2006"

"An unexpected energy windfall on Israel's doorstep promises to resolve Israel's energy security concerns for years to come. Unfortunately for Israek, it is the Palestinian Authority that controls the licensing of these reserves. So, as Operation Summer Rains washes away the administrative and political structures in the occupied territories, has Israel decided to use Hamas as an excuse to dismantle the PA and seize its energy assets?"...

Poor little Israel harassed by rocket fire need not worry about oil and energy - arms even ..

In 1975, Kissinger signed what forms the basis for the Haifa project: a Memorandum of Understanding whereby the US would guarantee Israel's oil reserves and energy supply in times of crisis.

A Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the United States and the Government of Israel on Strategic Cooperation

AIPAC Welcomes Announcement of New MOU for Israel

AIPAC released the following statement on the Administration’s announcement of increased aid to Israel

AIPAC welcomes the Administration’s announcement this week of its intention to implement a landmark Memorandum of Understanding with Israel that with Congressional approval will provide the Jewish State with $30b in security aid over the next 10 years. We look forward to working closely with Congress to safeguard Israel’s qualitative military edge and help ensure support for the increase in American aid to Israel.
Israel must prepare today for military threats that are more dangerous than any it has faced during the past decade: the potential of a nuclear Iran, increasing rocket and missile fire into Israel by Hizballah and Hamas, Syria’s military build-up, and increasing threats from Al Qaeda and Global Jihad.

The U.S.-Israel relationship is the keystone of America's policy in the Middle East, and our enduring partnership with our democratic ally Israel is one of our nation's key strategic assets.

The new MOU will culminate many months of discussion between the U.S. and Israel necessitated by the drawing to a close of Israel’s current 10 year MOU, signed in 1998, and will mark a 25 percent increase over current levels.

This aid will be a vital component in helping Israel meet its military modernization needs and counter existing and future threats in a dynamic and increasingly challenging regional environment.

Security assistance to Israel sends a signal to Israel’s adversaries that the U.S. commitment to maintaining Israel’s qualitative military edge and deterrent capabilities is long-term and meaningful.

As the President said in a recent statement, “I am strongly committed to Israel's security and viability as a Jewish state, and to the maintenance of its qualitative military edge. During our meeting today, I told Prime Minister Olmert that I am committed to reaching a new ten-year agreement that will give Israel the increased assistance it requires to meet the new threats and challenges it faces.”

We must implement a total boycott of anything produced in Israel. It's also in our self interest to do so because if the term “terrorism” means an activity that
(i) involves a violent act or an act dangerous to human life, property, or infrastructure; and
(ii) appears to be intended —
(A) to intimidate or coerce a civilian population;
(B) to influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion; or
(C) to affect the conduct of a government by mass destruction, assassination, kidnapping, or hostage-taking
then Israel is a terrorist and anyone purchasing a product made in Israel is sponsoring terrorism and subject under our terrorism laws to twenty-eight days detention without charge. So I don't think I'll be buying any more flat-leaf parsley or in fact any other produce from Israel in my local supermarket.

This attack and the media coverage gets more sickening by the day.

In terms of 'organising', well there's a big demo in London this coming Saturday ...

Israel doesn't seem to realize that history is not immune to irony, and Nazi is as Nazi does. Another problem Israel doesn't seem to understand is that now I'M A PALISTINIAN, and I'm rooting for Hamas. Let's do the math. Just the other day Israel announced it's first casualty since the bombing started. Since November about 8 Israelis have died here. It hasn't even been two weeks and now over 500 Palistinians are dead. That's the kind of math I've been seeing for years now, and I'm not ashamed to say it's turned me into an antisemetic even though I root for the semetic people over there who happen to not even be Israeli. I'll bet they leave thousands of cluster bombs in Gaza when they leave just like what they got away with in Lebanon. I'm already reading about Isrial using white phospherus on Palistinians. What a lovely country full of dispicable bigots.

why Israel is riksing so high as the international community watches in horror the ongoing Genocide and historic parallels such as this one are starting to surface?
