Spooky ladies call for repeal of terror induced abusive laws .......

Ministers 'using fear of terror'

Old spooky colleague (now 73 - retired in '96 head of UK MI5 brand of spookery) Dame Stella Rimington was interviewed by the Spanish newspaper La Vanguardia.

"It would be better that the government recognised that there are risks, rather than frightening people in order to be able to pass laws which restrict civil liberties, precisely one of the objects of terrorism - that we live in fear and under a police state,"
Former redoubtable Irish president Mary Robinson and President of the International Commission of Jurists (ICJ) accuses the US and the UK of undermining the framework of international law."Seven years after 9/11 it is time to take stock and to repeal abusive laws and policies enacted in recent years.

"Human rights and international humanitarian law provide a strong and flexible framework to address terrorist threats."

Report: Leading Jurists Call for Urgent Steps to Restore Human Rights in efforts to counter terrorism( ICJ website )- "Assessing Damage, Urging Action" based on 16 public hearings covering moe than 40 countries.

In the course of this inquiry, we have been shocked by the extent of the damage done over the past seven years by excessive or abusive counter-terrorism measures in a wide range of countries around the world. Many governments, ignoring the lessons of history, have allowed themselves to be rushed into hasty responses to terrorism that have undermined cherished values and violated human rights. The result is a serious threat to the integrity of the international human rights legal framework.

One wonder's if our kebab loving, BMI challenged, bag lady Home Secretary is reading and listening .... or even PC Slow, Slow, Slow, between shifts on his gay taxi service for those seeking almost wedded bliss.

"repeal abusive laws" don't get me going.

La Vanguardia
is a moderate Spanish language newspaper , based in Barcelona with the largest circulation outside the Madrid dailies, since 1881, it accepts and prints letters in Catalan (or in their quaint usage - Catalunya)

UPDATE FRIDAY 20th Feb 2009 : Spyblog has a useful update on the interview by the Spanish with Stella and the Daily Telegraph (17/2/09) take on the interview 2 weeks after it took place "

As someone has remarked , someone has an agenda to cause prolems for kebab guzzling Home Secretary, demi homeless, intellectuall powehouse Jacqui Smith.

"Britain: Police will not be prosecuted for Jean Charles de Menezes killing"

"The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) announced Friday that no police officer would face trial for the killing of Jean Charles de Menezes. The CPS had reviewed the case following the open verdict given in December by an inquest jury, who rejected the police account of events. De Menezes's family has announced that they will sue Scotland Yard for damages."

"Wright attempted to limit the damage as far as possible. He told jurors that he would not allow a verdict of unlawful killing. He supported the argument of the police legal teams that the evidence would only support a lawful killing or open verdict."

"The jury's verdict was still the most damaging outcome to the Metropolitan Police, given these restrictions. By an eight-to-two majority they presented an open verdict, thereby rejecting the police claims that this was a lawful killing. They rejected claims by the officers that de Menezes had been warned, and criticised the police operation. Harriet Wistrich, the family's lawyer, called for the prosecution of officers for perjury."...

Long held the view that when Lord Karaoke King Levy was arrested (Police speak = kidnapped)in corrupt and crooked cash for coronets deal, to fund the '05 election by his rich and corrupt business cronies, a deal was done.

Insp. Yates laid off and dear Ruth, now the very, very close friend of Tony Blair was left alone (along with others McCartney ec.,) and the Met would be let off on the Menezes Murder.

Voila!

This was organised by the men in pinnies and a solicitor in Red Lion Square personally with Tony Blair.(search site more moredetails).

Incidentally TB follows Amos Oz, Yo-Yo Ma, and Zubin Mehta as winner of wealthy businesman Dan David Prize for 2009, awarded annually by Tel Aviv University - mark your Diary May 17th 2009.

The US$1 Mn prize will be used by the the Middle East Envoy of the international quartet of peace process (AKA sit and watch Gaza and its population starved, strafed, bombed, killed )- for "his exceptional leadership and steadfast determination in helping to engineer agreements and forge lasting solutions to areas in conflict." to further fund his preposterous but sinister Tony Blair Faith Foundation

21st Century will be poorer if it is not under the guardianship of faith, says Blair .. pass the sick bag Alice.

You can of course contact

... and the fragrant and beautiful very, very close friend, amnuensis, and friend Ruth Turner who often gets down on her knees with Tony.

It is also on this site you can read about wife beater ex Minister(Chief Secretary to the Treasury, Minister for the Cabinet Office and Secretary of State for Health. ) Alan Milburn recently sharing reform experiences with counterparts in Sierra Leone. Wife Beaters International (Africa ) ?

"Mr. Milburn's work complements both Tony Blair's role as an advisor to President Koroma and the role of the team from the Office of Tony Blair who are working within the government of Sierra Leone to improve governance and promote investment. "
