Show me a girl with patent red leather high heels and I will show you a racing certainty", Chris Bernard once said, so the sight of Rachida Dati , Minister of Justice and Nicolas Sarkozy's mistress du jour in her trademark high heels and scarlet scarf at the Stades du France on Saturday confirmed that she is still as addicted to her favourite colour as ever.

Although when her "rise horizontale" started under the wing of Arnaud Lagardere whose media empire (Lagardere Active Media LAM ) includes Paris Match - and Elle, Europe 1 TV, and the Journal du Dimanche hleped finance his frequent visits to the French Turf she did for a while (as Lord Patel can attest) unclothe herself in the pink and grey racing colours of the Lagardere stable from a becoming little lingeriste just of the Rue de Fauborg St.Honore.

Therefore vision mixers at ITV must have been delighted when they could squeeze in the ravishing features of the 41 year old beautiful divorcee (and once the top selling Avon rep in Burgundy) when showing the beaming South African President , Thabo Mbeki in the Diplomatic boxes at the World Cup Final on Saturday.

It was of course Arnaud's Paris Match which was exposed (Lord Patel post here) as having removed the pint sized President's "love handles" or poignees d'amour which L'Express exposed as a heavily photoshopped images from the Dati / Sarkozy holiday at a at a luxury resort in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire this summer.

Rachida (known to the President as "Roc" ,a diminutive lovers name contracted from la Marocaine) tells me that he is peculiarly sensitive to his poignees d'amour and gets pissed off when she teases him about them. They are she says essential for when "le Jockey" (as he is known to her) becomes passionate he is as they say at Longchamps, liable to "dismount" - Toni Fabuloso has an alternative and rather coarse expression from the world of horse racers which discloses more knowledge of equine anatomy and physiology than she should have or we are willing to disclose.

Rachida also disclosed recently to us that her predescessor in the Ministry of Justice had been a great help in her career. Albin Chalandon was France's justice minister under Jacques Chirac when Dati approached him (he was then 66) at an Algerian embassy party in 1986 and asked for help. He ws ablwe to oblige and got her a job as an accountant at the oil giant ELF-Acquitaine where he had been in charge from 1977 to 1983... and he was there at the ceremony when she was sworn into office earlier this year.

Meanwhile the ex Mrs Sarkozy, Cecilia ,will soon be publishing a book , "Why I divorced the President", she tells us.

Glamorous Rachida Dati (Arabic رشيدة داتي rašīda dātī, born November 27, 1965 in Saint-Rémy, Burgundy) has a Moroccan father who worked as a bricklayer and an Algerian mother who herself worked as a cleaning lady, she is one of 12 children . She later spent one year in London at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development again in the financial auditing department. In 1994 she was an auditing supervisor and secretary general of the bureau of urban development studies at Lyonnaise des eaux. From 1995 to 1997, she worked as a technical advisor at the legal management division of the Ministry of Education.

In 2002, she became Nicolas Sarkozy's advisor for whom she worked on a law project on prevention of minor offenses (prévention de la délinquance). In 2006, she joined the UMP party. On January 14th 2007 she was named spokeswoman for Nicolas Sarkozy as he was himself chosen that same day to be the UMP presidential candidate for the forthcoming April 2007 elections.

After Nicolas Sarkozy's victory in the French presidentials' second round on May 6th 2007, she was appointed Ministry of Justice.One of Rachida's brothers, Jamel Dati, already a felon, was convicted of drug trafficking in 2007. He was sentenced to a six-month suspended sentence. Judicial observers say the "letter of the Sarkozy/Dati project on multi-recidivism" means he should go straight to jail, as a repeat offender. Another one of Rachida's brothers, Omar, is also a felon, due to be sentenced in November. Like Jamel, he got caught for international drug trafficking. Rachida stated that she does not recall receiving any cash money from them, at any point.

Those watching the French play at the Milennium Stadium may have glimpsed the lady sat in the row immeduately behind the French President.

Mr & Mrs Sarkozy have announced their separation today.

Yes! Runty little President Sarkozy (who stands in/on the bed to kiss his wife) has made his beautiful young (?) wife Carla Bruni pregnant.

Fifty year old Cecilia, his second wife and mother of his 11 year old son, Louis called us last night.."I didn't know she had it in her", she sobbed rather bitterly.

A true Parisian , Cecilia Maria Sara Isabel Ciganer-Albeniz was first married at the age of 27 to the 51-year old children's TV presenter Jacques Martin at the town hall of the chic Paris suburb of Neuilly in 1984. The mayor was Nicolas Sarkozy, then 2 years older than her.

Cecilia suggests that this explains Carla's absence in public since the trip to Windsor - did the entente cordiale go to their heads ?

A breathless post partum Rachida calls to tell Lord Patel that all is well with her and her daughter and is she is off back to work.

Struggling a little with the Manolo Blahnik's we sent as a small puorboire , to cheer her up, she tripped off to work ( and frankly she tells us ) to make sure she didn't find anyone in her chair who had been slipped in during her absence.

Mr. Sarkozy arrived in Washington last Tuesday with some of the women who reflect the diversity of his cabinet: Finance Minister Christine Lagarde, a former chairwoman of the Chicago-based law firm Baker & McKenzie; Justice Minister Rachida Dati, who has a Moroccan father and an Algerian mother; and Rama Yade, (Ramatoulaye Yade-Zimet ) his 31-year-old Senegalese-born and Muslim subminister of foreign affairs and human rights. Mr. Sarkozy refers to her as his "Condi Rice."

She is married to the socialist militant and diplomat, Joseph Zimet, who is the son of the famous Yiddish singer Ben Zimet - who has recently spent 2 years in Senegal. Ben Zimet is a Canadien citizen of Jewish-Polish stock, a long-time French resident and is resident in Dakar Senegal at present. Apparently Joseph voted for Segolene Royal in the Presidential elections.

President Sarkozy with President of Senegal Abdoulaye Wade, in July this year, Rama Yade's dad is a diplomat and her mother a Professor. Her dad was the personal secretary of the socialist president, poet, writer and “immortel” Léopold Sédar Senghor and her mother was a professor of the history of Islam.

Sarkozy expects to sign contracts worth around 10 Bn. Euros (US $14.66 Bn.), including a seawater desalination plant driven by nuclear power, arms cooperation and other deals during Gaddafi's 5 day stay.. there is also talk of an Airbus deal.

Not to be outshone presidential candidate Ségolène Royal called the visit "odious, shocking, and even inadmissible", and accused the president of "stomping on traditional French defense of human rights".

Gaddafi has an entourage of 400 officials (including his sexy all female personal security detail) and is erecting a Bedouin tent for his stay in central Paris.

Israeli scientists and politicians have called for the closure of the 40-year-old Dimona plant, saying its age had increased the risk of accidents.In August 2004 Iodine tabelts were issued locally after a safety scare.

In August last year the Deputy CEO of the site said publicly there were no safety problems at the site.
Israel has never publicly acknowledged that it maintains a nuclear arsenal but foreign experts say it has used its reactor at Dimona to produce between 100 and 200 nuclear warheads.

Rachida Dati rings to tell me she is fuming - Sarko organised a photocall at Paris Disneyland to introduce his latest 40 year old mistress ( and ex squeeze of Micky Jagger, Eric Clapton) to the press.

L'Express reported on its website today and will publish images of the two in this week's editions, is running a front-page image of the Italian-French Bruni tomorrow (Monday) with the headline "Carla Bruni: The President's Girlfriend."

According to L'Express the Journal du Dimanche undertook a survey on October 18/19th of 964 people, 89% of the questioned people estimate that this connection must remain of a private nature, 11% to think that it acts against the public interest.(au contraire d'une "affaire d'ordre publique")

The vast majority of those asked (86%), said it did not affect their view of Sarkozy as Head of the State. For 11% of them, it worsened, for 3%, it improved.

' ello, 'ello, 'ello ...Le Journal Dimanche is owned by Arnaud Lagardere, a close friend of Mr Sarkozy's, and is therefore usually well informed about the French president's plans. They confirm today what and inconsolable Rachida Dati told Lord Patel in a heated transatlantic telcon last week.

Le Journal Dimanche has breathlessly announced ahead of the press pack that President Sarkozy will marry Carla Bruni on the Fri 8th / Sat 9th February - less than 4 months since his divorce.

The Elysee Palace would not comment on the news.

During a "surprise" Christmas trip to Egypt, (Luxor's Old Winter Palace hotel & Sharm el Sheikh) on billionaire friend Vincent Bollore's (very close friend of Edmond de Rothschild) private jet (pic with Bruni's son) the recently-divorced president reportedly gave Bruni an engagement ring -- a huge pink diamond heart -- while Bruni gave him a luxury Swiss Patek Philippe watch in grey steel. Sarko also spent his post-election holiday aboard billionaire Vincent Bollore's yacht (pic) raising a storm of abuse about the nouveau riche president and his clique.

It wasn't all fun they stopped off in Cairo to meet President Hosni Mubarak on December 30th on his first official Middle Eastern visit and went on to Jordan to see Prince Abdullah in Amman, Jordan - with a 200 strong official party.

Egyptian Culture Minister and famed abstract painter Faruq Hosni, who is seeking to become the new boss of Paris-based Unesco, is said to have been very helpful in making the arrangements and providing security - especially for the President's morning "le jogging"...whatever that means.

Meanwhile ... the tiny but well formed Sarkozy awaits the memoirs of his former wife Cecilia which will deal (it is said) with the "difficult years" alongside the French President.
